Welcome to How to Not Suck at College!

This blog offers practical advice for college success, straight from experts in higher education, and is for the thousands of students out there trying to navigate the college experience. It offers an insider’s perspective on what students need to do to be successful in college based on years of experience with my own students.

As the creator and main author of this blog, I have more than a decade of higher education experience, primarily as a professor. I have worked at both public and private four-year universities, community colleges, and for-profit colleges. I have taught face-to-face, online, and hybrid formats. I have also earned a doctorate in higher education.

Although there is just one primary author of this blog, I will also be inviting some of my higher education colleagues to contribute guest posts within their areas of expertise such as admissions, financial aid, and advising.
